For a few minutes this morning, I wanted today to be perfect - well, maybe not perfect - just descent. I forgot for a moment that family life is messy and unpredictable and that the moments of perfection - the precious ones that warm your heart and bring a smile to your face - transpire amidst the never-ending, tumultuous chaos that is life with four vibrant, passionately enthusiastic children.
Instead of sleeping in, you were awoken by tears, fighting and some conspiratory whispering. Yet an assortment of handmade cards, gifts, carefully picked daisies and chocolates were collected, the table set, bagels baked, eggs hardboiled and coffee brewed.
This morning may not have gone as peacefully and smoothly as I had envisioned - nevertheless, in spite of the frequent storms of emotional intensity, you continue to enjoy those brightly shining moments of thoughtfulness, excitement and pure joy that you and the children so often share. Thank you.
This day doesn't have to be perfect. This life doesn't have to perfect. How lucky are we to get to share in this incredible adventure together?
We love you!
Happy Father’s Day!
